Pavlo Gudimov / curator: “Marina Skugareva — one of the greatest mysteries of our art. She manages to combine relevant hot topics: beyond sexual femininity, life and routine, and all with incredible humor. She has a furious energy, at a very high level, owns a lot of artistic techniques. And most importantly -it works so much spice”.
In the work presented favorite topics of creativity Skugareva — road and still lifes. The expression of these works is not so much open emotion, but the way of vision, search for “different perspective” when the external expressivity into leaves, opening the accuracy of the statements and hard observation. The work “still life” was created in the period of fascination with the artist’s theme of “home”problems of everyday life and the combination of roles of mother, artist and a housewife. Picture frame -the author probably made her husband Skugareva is an artist Oleg Tistol. The first work was presented in solo exhibition in the gallery I Design 2006.
A series of “Road” was presented for the first time in a personal project of the author “untitled” -exhibition of painting “as such”, in 2009 at the art center Pavlo Gudimov’s ya Gallery. A strange space where reality-rounded view of the artist, determines the originality of the series. The composition is built on the principle of “the view from a car window”, sometimes with the conditional upper viewpoint, and therefore between nature and human, who sees, there is a distance. In these paintings there are no human figures, their world is empty, stressed unemotional but intense and meaningful.
