Eugene Rayevsky
Born in 1966, lives and works in Lviv. In 1984 he graduated from the Republican Art School. T. G. Shevchenko in Kiev. Since 1993 — author and participant of many solo and group projects. Stupenda Polish program “GAUDE POLONIA”. One of the few representatives of the so-called middle generation of Ukrainian artists. The combination of multiple creative professions — artist, designer, writer, affects the manner Rayevsky, implemented in the style of “new old masters”. His works are kept in Lviv art gallery, the Museum of Modern Art and private collections of Ukraine, USA, Norway, Germany, Poland, Estonia, the Netherlands.
Atypical painting Rayevsky, grown on deep European tradition, puts into modern context the articles of faith, religion, universal spiritual values. According to the artist, in his works — “and no search of answers, only the articulation of tradition” that makes the words and characters in the paintings of relics of artistic expression.
Both works were presented in two curatorial projects Pavlo Gudimov — “New old masters in a mini format“2011 in Dnipropetrovsk art Museum and in “Ministerstwo” in 2009 at the art center I Gallery. The owners of the hands, or “Unknown” is the author and artist Volodymyr Kostyrko -one Eugene Rayevsky. Returning to the art of the sacred meaning of the human hand, “new old master”, was introduced in the image plane two equally important symbol of the new and old eras. This is a book and motorcycle glasses that have already appeared in projects of the author of the “Warner sisters presents” (2009) And “i don’t like fish” (2010, together with Vladimir Kostyrko, with the participation of Stanislav perfetskiy). Although they are in the “focus” of the image, the viewer’s eye draw is hands, snatched from the shadows.
